“Visual elements dominate the way I proceed when I make a "picture". As I approach a painting, I have something in mind that uses visual metaphor to trigger a reaction from the viewer; sort of a reference point for them to draw their own conclusions and memories. But I am my first "viewer", there is no intended audience. I am just using my collective ideas to set in motion an emotional reaction which triggers a visceral response. I "know" in my bones when it feels like I have presented my intention. Color and Form are the two major elements I employ, but viscosity of paint and the mark play a role no less important.”
